Welcome Back Jim Murphy
The Board of Directors for the New York State Blues Festival welcomes back its founding member
and festival director, Jim Murphy. Mr. Murphy managed the festival from its inception in 1992 through
2003, handing the reins over to the board in 2004. “I am honored to be back in the fold once again.
I look forward to working with our dedicated board of directors and the many talented community
members whose hard work and love for blues music has made this festival so successful.”
The two-day, free festival will continue to be presented in Central New York. A very special
thank you to the strong support from the Syracuse music community, the financial and in-kind
contributions from our many community sponsors, and our business partners.
The New York State Blues Festival has been one of the largest blues festivals in the United States.
Headline performers have included the Blind Boys of Alabama, Little Feat, Dickie Betts, and
Otis Rush, just to name a few. In the past, the festival has become an area favorite winning
numerous awards for “Best Blues Festival”.
Our friends, volunteers, and attendees have come to expect a spectacular event with a mix of
local, regional, and nationally recognized performers along with colorful vendors, and a safe,
secure, family-friendly atmosphere. Our goal is to continue to meet these expectations.
Congratulations to our JetBlue raffle winner, Missy Frieday!
