Earl Slick & The Ripcords

On November 19, 2022 Earl Slick brought his legendary chops to Native American Music Awards in Niagara Falls NY. Teamed up with Central New York’s own Fabulous Ripcords, featuring Native Lyons boys, Irv and Rex. Bringing home the hardware winning “Best Blues Recording” and “Group of the Year”! This being their second recording collaboration with the Iconic Earl Slick! Earl has found himself a refuge here in Central New York, where he’s able to enjoy some down time. Always eager to spend some time with Faithkeeper Oren Lyons for Haudenosaunee wisdom and kicking it around with the Ripcords (AKA the West Side Social Club) at MoleTrax studios! Where there’s no limits to the creativity and zero pressure of any premeditated expectations. “We just let the music take the wheel and enjoy the ride”! The Ripcords, local multiple SAMMY award winning ensemble of the CNY music scene, will be playing at the years NYS Blues fest. The Ripcords become regional favorites for their limitless ability to weave in an out different feels and genres while maintaining a firm footing in their Roots/Americana wheelhouse. As music often does, being the common denominator, many “A” list artists often cross paths and sometimes become more then just artists crossing paths, and more like friendships destined to be. Such is the case with this years NYS Blues Fest headliner Buddy Guy and Earl Slick. They’ve enjoyed decades of friendship as well sharing many many stages throughout the years. Once Earl heard Buddy was headlining, he said he definitely needed to make the scene. Long story long, bandleader of the Ripcords Rex Lyons didn’t waste any time seeing if he could get Earl to entertain the idea of jumping into the mix. So… This summer ES will once again join forces with the Ripcords and bring their unique blend blues rock to the NYS Blues Festival MainStage Saturday June 17. This is only a fraction of an incredible 3 day lineup, that without a doubt, will be one the best NYS Blues Festivals to date!
