We’re gonna take ALL OF THE MONEY and donate it to the BLUES IN THE SCHOOLS program, right here in Syracuse. Blues In the Schools (BITS) is one of three educational components created and offered by the New York State Blues Festival.
Check it out. I wrote a song for the Tuesday Night Open Jam that takes place weekly at the Maplewood Music & Events Bar & Grill. The song is an ANTHEM for what we think of as a “fellowship” of musicians and music lovers alike – who come here every Tuesday to coexist equally in the culture of music and positivity. Ya, super cool scene.
The song is called “Woodies’ Anthem.”
Ya yeah – you got it – it’s a totally clever I-see-what-ya-did-there play on the word “Maplewood.” One day a few months ago, when I said that title out loud…. well… everybody… and you know who you are…. started identifying as a Woodie. Kids and grown adults alike. Heh. Now there are t-shirts about it. All kindsa stuff about it.
And, we’re all pulling together on Tuesday AUGUST 1, 7pm at the Maplewood to drop the song. We’re gonna play the song LIVE and we will have CDs available for a suggested donation of $10. Yep for just one song. But, it’s a great FUN kinda song and it’s 7 minutes of pure rock n roll. The nice Folks from BLUES IN THE SCHOOLS WILL be with us on August 1, where we THE FELLOWSHIP OF US ALL present our monetary pledge to the organization. With a great big smile about the size of the sun.
